Chanel | Haute Couture Spring 2012

My thoughts:
..... Bold blues representing every color of the sky,  a blue black hurricane, twinkling night sky, and the palest blue filled with wispy clouds.
..... The Pan Am Girl should be so lucky
..... No one dresses to travel anymore, but if the paparazzi are waiting for you at the airport?  This is the way to be photographed.

Tweet of the Week, 1/24/12

This week's Tweet of the Week is not just one tweet, but a series of Jeanne Beker tweets that I followed this morning while setting up my own blogger/editor pitching day.  Come along...

Jeanne Beker
Getting set to do some high flying with Chanel. Judging from the coveted invite, which features a jet window, it's an airplane themed show.

Crowd outside the Grand Palais for Chanel....

Inside Karl's faux aircraft, waiting for the Chanel couture show to take off! Incroyable!!!

Feel like I'm in my usual plane habitat, but we're on the ground at Grand Palais in an AMAZING jet "set" created by Lagerfeld for Chanel.

Jeanne Beker
Judging from this windswept updo, this Chanel couture collection is inspired by FLIGHT!

There's even a trolley with champagne, juice, or water for all of us first-class "passengers"....

Fantasy of fashion is what keeps me in the game after 26 yrs. THIS is what it's all about! Karl/Chanel: Thanks for all the theatre!!

Thank YOU Jeanne Baker for taking us all along!

First Chanel look out is sky blue modernity!

Golden Globes 2012

The Red Carpet Season begins!
This Golden Globe Red Carpet Season was about
Shape, Nude, and Lace.

The Blushing Nudes
Piper Perabo
The first glimpses of this voluminous see-through skirt swishing through the crowd, made me very concerned, but seeing it full on, I must say...... it grew on me.  Maybe it was to big for the event, or for her.  Something about it was off, and something about it was absolutely right.

Amy Poehler in Naeem Khan,.... The neck is a little to high and I just want to nip her waist in a little.... Pretty.
And who did it best?  Diane Lane in Reem Acra.

Shape
Nicole Kidman was snatched into a little Versace number that took her body from model thin to va va va voom!

Sophia Vergara... did we really expect her to be in anything that wasn't body conscious?  If it ain't broke....
Pic - Just Jared
Reese Witherspoon in Zac Posen... Jessica Rabbit has nothing on you.

 Lace
Lea Michele in Marchesa..... perfect for the Ice Capades or Cirqu du Soleil .... not for the Golden Globes.

Sarah Hyland in vintage Dolce and Gabbana! Fabu!!!

Meryl Streep, one of the most prolific actors of our time.... looks like she's auditioning for a role as Ma Barker with those lace cut-outs ** shaking my head** goes to show talent trumps style.

Best Dressed
Tilda Swinton! In Haider Ackermann of course.....  Yes it was a little reminescent of the Thin White Duke, but it was the right color, and style on the right girl.
