I was doing my daily browse of fashion blogs/sites
and I came across a couple that I just had to share.

The first one is a post from the Style List
As a supreme diva, you've serenaded many with the songs we've held close to our hearts. But as a woman – a black woman – you've inspired me to love my mahogany complexion, lithe figure, and naturally curly hair ~ Dana Oliver

Netflix: The Pawnbroker

I haven't been on top of my Netflix queue.... got a lot going on these days, but when I opened my red envelope and saw the title The Pawnbroker, I thought, "Whaaaaat?". Never heard of it, couldn't remember if someone suggested it to me, did I read something about it (?).... had no memory of moving it up to "The Top".... Complete blank.

Even though I couldn't remember why I wanted to see The Pawnbroker, I'm so glad I did.  Not that it was such a great flick (sure lots would disagree), it was just OK, the story was pretty grim (it is the story of an embittered Holocaust survivor) but the images of everyday life in Harlem were amazing! It made me want to move into a big Brownstone, shoot pool, and take mass in a makeshift chapel in a tenement building.

A must see, if only for the atmosphere.... gave it 3 stars!

From the Netflix envelope: Rod Steiger stars as Sol Nazerman, a Jewish pawnbroker and Holocaust survivor embittered and broken by his experience.  Sol becomes increasingly removed from his friends and his business in Harlem, which has attracted the attention of a mobster.  Can Sol turn around his life and his shop? Steiger won Best Actor honors at the 1964 Berlin International Film Festival and the 1965 BAFTAs for his role in this Oscar-nominated drama directed by Sidney Lumet

Springtime in Paris

So, I went to the Philadelphia Flower Show last weekend and to be honest I was a little nonplussed. I mean the build up and the hype surrounding this year's show was so pervasive that I was so anxious to get in there and see Pareeee!  And the theme, Springtime in Paris! I couldn't imagine that it would be so plain. To be fair The Philadelphia Flower Show is usually absolutely breathtaking. I guess it's just really hard to top yourself year after year.

But there was this.....
Just a little something for Easter Sunday...

And I think Vivienne Westwood would approve of a floral bum bag....

Made by Devon

When I walk into the office, I pass by the desk of Devon Bauman who always has a smile and fabulous jewelry.... of course with my accessories obsession, I made sure that one of my breaks was committed to finding out where all these baubles were coming from.  Well! To my surprise, they are Made by Devon!

Here are a few of my faves!
Buy $75 - Pendants are made with fused dichroic glass either adorned with a bail or hand wrapped in silver wire.  They are then surrounded by swarovski crystals, glass beads, and various other beads.

Buy $45 -
These pendants are made by stacking pieces of cut glass and fusing them together in my kiln to form an interesting shape.  They are then filed down to define the shape and then re-fired to polish them.  Some are then hand wrapped in silver wire. (Chains are not included)

Buy $35
Tube bracelets are made with silver and gold plated beads, swarovski crystal cubes, and swarovski squaredelles.  Bracelets are made with glass and crystal beads and dichroic glass cabochons.

About Devon -

My name is Devon and I have a BFA in textiles from Moore College of Art and Design.  After college my favorite show to watch was Crafters Coast to Coast...let’s just say I was mildly obsessed!  There was a episode of a lady making fused glass coasters and I thought to myself  “I need to learn how to do this!”  So I took a few classes, someone was kind enough to give me an old glass grinder they were not using anymore and my parents helped me buy a kiln.  I always had a love for jewelry and a passion for color...this medium allowed me to combine the two to create one of a kind wearables.  Then came the glass bottles.  I realized I could flatten bottles with my kiln, friends and family started collecting bottles for me and my recycled glass serving trays and spoon rests were created.  These make fantastic gifts and great conversation pieces.

Let Them Eat Cake

..... just wanted to share this with you.  I just got this great Lip Balm by Tokyo Milk, called Let Them Eat Cake!  And it really is the perfect Birthday Cake flavored lip balm.... delicious! And it comes in the cutest little packaging ... with a sparkly image of Marie Antoinette, no less.  I think I'll order a few more to send to my girlies as a weekday surprise.  I love sending a weekday surprise (just a little something that I ship out to my girlfriends for no reason at all, just a Have a Great Tuesday Gift), I'm sure it does more for me than for them.
Try it... you'll see what I mean.

From Inspired by the fashionable and sweet-toothed Marie Antoinette, TokyoMilk Lip Balm - Let Them Eat Cake is a super kissable sweet treat. It uses ultra-nourishing and soothing ingredients like Shea Butter, Aloe, and Vitamin E to repair chapping and dryness, while the sugary flavor satisfies.

Jane Russell

This news set me back a bit.

"Jane Russell, the voluptuous actress at the center of one of the most highly publicized censorship episodes in movie history, the long-delayed release of the 1940s western “The Outlaw,” died on Monday at her home in Santa Maria, Calif. She was 89."
 Anita Gates, NY Times

My favorite performance...*wink*.
