Designs In Blue Light

Everyone LOVES Etsy! .... and one of my favorite shops is Designs In Blue Light. The first time I stumbled upon this shop, I was looking for a little bauble to gift to myself.... as usual... and I fell in love with Jennifer MacNeil's beautiful mix of handmade and vintage jewelry ..... And Jennifer is a real designer's designer, she has a wonderful
facebook fan page, where she shares the spotlight with other etsy designers... has great contest and giveaways, as well as information and design tips.

Let's dedicate this blog to Jennifer's uncanny eye for beautiful vintage jewelry. Enjoy!

This vintage parure is in immaculate condition and comes in its original box, sweetly priced at $95 Buy

The set includes a cuff bracelet, screwback earrings, and a pendant/brooch on a 16" silver tone chain. It's a rare Bugbee and Niles set, dating back to the later 1930s / early 1940s. Beautiful! God bless Jennifer MacNeil's tasteful eye.

Vintage, signed, 1", blue Weiss earrings, are perfectly suitable for my Great Aunt, for me, or my trendy little cousin. This design is timeless, and a steal at $39 Buy

And when I get my invitation to the Oscar's I'll be wearing this... drooling..... this genuine Eisenberg Ice Choker. It measures 15" with an adjustable "J" hook closure. The outer strands are clear, prong set rhinestones, and the two inner strands are seed pearls. Gorgeous!
$349 Buy

Designs in Blue Light also offers free shipping on many items, a layaway option and will consider offers on the vintage pieces.

Alexander McQueen

One of my most trusted fashion gurus, Nicole Gibson said it best, ................
'the talent yet to come from him was huge', and reminded me how fantastic Sandra Bullock looked in McQueen at the 2010 SAG Awards.

A picture is worth a thousand words, and video is worth....... so much more.

... Genius.

.....Recycling and Irving Penn imagery. We are so blessed to have lived in a time that holds the spirits of Alexander McQueen, Irving Penn, and Isabella Blow.

... To difficult to choose a favorite collection, but I do love a coronation robe.

Alexander McQueen's unencumbered creativity will live on in future generations of designers and artist.

John Wind ~ "Going to art school in London, 2 of the traits I admired most in the English were creativity and eccentricity, as in "English Eccentrics". In the fashion world, the designer of our generation who combined these two with more sass, style, verve, and guts than anyone is Alexander McQueen. So I am shocked and so sad to hear that McQueen died today at age 40. His creative legacy will survive."

Vogue Editor Anna Wintour -"We are devastated to learn of the death of Alexander McQueen, one of the greatest talents of his generation. He brought a uniquely British sense of daring and aesthetic fearlessness to the global stage of fashion. In such a short career, Alexander McQueen's influence was astonishing -- from street style, to music culture and the world's museums. His passing marks an insurmountable loss"

Catharine Malandrino ~ "Alexander McQueen's work and personality will stay forever unforgettable"

Looking forward to Spring....

.... a long snowy day in Philadelphia, everyone is snowed in and the blogs, the facebook status updates, and the tweets have been fantastic. Nothing like a little cabin fever to stir creativity I guess. ..... and since I work from home, tapping away on my Mac, I say, let it snow let it snow let it snow.

.... yes let it snow, and even though I'm still looking for a great pair of distressed military inspired flat boots (and I will find them), its time to look forward to spring.

.... this spring I need/want a few pairs of light weight wide legged denim jeans to be paired with an asymetrical or handkerchief hemmed blouse or dress that can double as a long shirt, paired with flats or wedges and a cotton blazer for day ...and with brown or nude fishnets for texture, and my favorite pair of stilts for evening.

.... like this beautiful dress from Givenchy Spring 2010 rtw.... actually, this is very snowflake inspired.

or this one from Akira Chicago, my new favorite online haunt.

Love Spring! .... and can't wait to help the economy by spending some money! LOL
